The Otari arrives and other dreams
Posted 18 May 2008, 19:31 by The Kennel
We brought our Otari MTR-90 MkII to the Kennel today and she sure looks sweet:

Big ups to Jim’s cousin, Brian McGovern, for helping make the move from our storage space a piece of cake. Here’s another shot of the Otari, nestled amid the racks of outboard gear, the patchbay and the deck’s controller:

Also today, Jim painted the bathroom (at last!):

The Wharton Tiers Ensemble rehearsed (and relaxed):

And we lusted after the Farley baby grand piano sitting in the vacant apartment next door:

Our former neighbor promised it to someone else, but she said we can have it if the other party does not pick it up in the next few days. Vehicle trouble kept them from doing so today — we’re hoping their luck does not improve!

“The Kennel is a perfect spot for capturing the excitement and immediacy of a live sound. With lots of analog gear the vibe in this sweet Bushwick room is full of texture and warmth — both sonically and personally. Billy, the engineer and also a great producer, is really sensitive to listening for that magic moment and focusing everyone in the room towards it. You’ll leave happy!“
