The Big Push: Can you hear the buzz?
Posted 4 June 2008, 12:07 by The Kennel
A pesky hum had James and Wharton fretting late into the evening until careful debugging uncovered the culprit: a mis-wired 24-channel snake. (Yay, more soldering!)
The good news is, it’s not a major setback, so at this point it still looks like all systems go for the Third Border album session this weekend — which was music to the ears of TB bassist Gerard Smith, who dropped by to firm up the schedule.
Meanwhile, Jim honed his Cat 5 network cabling skills, assembling the performance-room terminals for our Hear Back personal monitoring system, which gives every player their own, individual headphone mix (more cowbell!). He’ll wrap that up tonight, installing the control-room terminals, and we’ll test the system on Thursday.

“Recording at the Kennel was a joy. The staff helped to create a friendly, productive atmosphere. Great room, great gear, and the staff’s genuine enthusiasm for the creative process made it easy to get great results. Highly recommended! The view isn’t bad either…”
— Will Hanson (ex-Proxy guitarist)
