Recent doings at The Kennel

Don’t block the box: A great time was had by all as the sexy, rocking Lady Magma came in for a weekend session with Wharton Tiers producing. The well-rehearsed Bushwick-based band tracked and mixed 12 songs in just two days. Now that’s punk rock!
One day, one song: That was the agenda for The Brian Boggess Group, who dropped by yesterday for a session with James Pertusi. “Not In My Town” features blazing guitar work by Brian and his Rickenbacker 350V63, cranked through our 1967 Bandmaster for a classic garage-rock sound.
The adventure begins: Work began this month on the fourth album by The Sharp Things, the critically acclaimed orchestral-pop band led by Perry Serpa. Billy “Prince Polo” Szeflinski, who produced the Sharps’ 2007 release, A Moveable Feast, is back behind the board for this effort. More on this in the weeks and months to come.
Pretty as a picture: Photographer Dan Gottesman took over The Kennel last Friday for a day-long shoot producing the images we’ll be using for a web site overhaul to come in the next few weeks. Dan did a great job capturing our special ambience; we’ll be posting some shots soon, so stay tuned.
Rabid In The Kennel: Our monthly music and interview series with host Jack Rabid of The Big Takeover has been gathering steam since its debut over the summer, with memorable performances recorded by The Posies, punk-rock legend T.V. Smith of The Adverts, Joe Pernice of Pernice Brothers, Justin Sullivan of New Model Army, LA-based songstress Miranda Lee Richards and, just last week, Lou Barlow of Dinosaur Jr. & Sebadoh fame.
