  1. Been a while

Just because we haven’t been posting to the blog doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy:

    • Mixing commenced on the Sexcop LP, with Billy at the board. Work is on hold at the present whilst The Cool And Deadly tour the Southwest, but will resume next month.
    • Ben Miller of Third Border re-cut vocals on “O Superman” and “Target’s Eye” in preparation for mixing this weekend. Wharton and Jim will oversee the mix with James assisting.
    • Dorie Zarbis was in last weekend, recording 3 songs with Wharton producing. The Queens-based singer-songwriter was accompanied by an excellent band, including guitarists Carlos Alomar (Bowie, Iggy, Yoko Ono) and Page Hamilton of Helmet fame. James assisted.

Dorie’s session was the first to use Wharton’s 1” 24-track Tascam deck, which captured many a legendary performance at Fun City and now occupies a place of honor in its new home.

  2. “The Kennel has a nice big recording room, and we were able to get great sounds whether it was a solo vocals and guitar song or a full rocking band. Best of all are the people who work there: no snarky, frustrated musician types wishing they were doing something else, just talented engineers and mixers who are down to earth, have a good sense of humor, and have great ears.
